Drawn by the British artist Alice Shirley in 2017 and never reissued. Appaloosa des Steppes (Appaloosa of the Steppes) celebrates spotted horses, recognisable by their "leopard" pattern, found for centuries from Central Asia to the Great Plains of America. These singular coats evoke both the horses of the Kyrgyz steppes and the famous Appaloosas developed by the Nez Perce, exceptional breeders. The powerful graphics of the central steed intertwine with geometric motifs inspired by shyrdaks, the traditional felt rugs of Central Asia. A scarf that elegantly links two equestrian traditions, between East and West. The softness of the azure blue palette with touches of eau-de-nil green is superb. A Hermès grail. Alice Shirley's drawing is both precise and fluid, with a true mastery of movement. The horse seems almost suspended, carried by the rhythm of the design.
