Art and History of this Hermès Scarf

The Les Cavaliers d’Or scarf was designed to accompany the exhibition “L’Or des Scythes” (The Gold of the Scythians), shown in New York and then in Paris at the Grand Palais in 1976. It celebrates the ornamental art of the Scythians, formidable horsemen and talented goldsmiths, whose sumptuous jewellery had a lasting influence on European styles. On the silk we find chiselled combs, gold pectorals, protective amulets and finely decorated harnesses. A scarf that bears witness to the alliance of ancient history and timeless elegance.
